1. Covent Garden Christmas Tree
Observe one of London’s largest Christmas trees shining magnificently over the cobblestone streets of nineteenth-century Covent Garden.
Covent Garden is home to the city’s largest, 60-foot-tall, hand-selected Christmas tree.
This spectacular tree is from the same farm where the Royal Family purchases their Christmas tree, and it is adorned with dazzling lights and festive ornaments.
The tree is only one component of their holiday display, which consists of around 115,000 lights.
Covent Garden has also decided to give us a white Christmas by sprinkling snow throughout the holiday season. Covent Garden is filled with an abundance of Christmas spirit.
Despite the rarity of actual snow in the capital, Covent Garden’s display will feature an abundance of the white substance.
Londoners will be mesmerized by the West Piazza’s Christmas display, which features nearly 30,000 glittering lights and regular doses of fake snow.
In addition to the Christmas tree, the area’s renowned Market Building is decked with mistletoe chandeliers displaying thousands of glittering lights and glistening berries.
Location:
Covent Garden Piazza, London WC2E 8RF, United Kingdom.
2. Kew Gardens Christmas Tree
Christmas at Kew is one of the season’s highlights, with a 2.7km trail looping through the magnificent gardens.
In comparison to the magnificent light shows and decorations, the Christmas tree still isn’t insignificant.
It is a magnificent lighting and celebration spectacle. Especially considering everything else the Christmas at Kew light trail offers, this is a must-see.
This winter, Kew Gardens will once again offer light, color, and a healthy dose of Christmas magic to southwest London.
Their beautiful lighting trail is among the prettiest Christmas lights in London, transforming the gardens into a merry enchanted forest.
And as Christmas at Kew enters its tenth year, they have plenty of fresh surprises and treats in store!
This year’s addition to the Christmas at Kew light trail is the option to Make a Wish for Nature. Along the walk are two wishing trees, to which visitors may attach one of a variety of wishes.
Kew will then take these desires to the Biodiversity COP15 summit in December to demonstrate the public’s need and desire for action to safeguard the world’s biodiversity.
The requests vary from “guard our food” and “defend our well-being” to “protect the environment” and beyond.
Location:
Kew, Richmond, London TW9 3AE, United Kingdom.
3. Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree
Since 1947, Norway has annually presented Londoners with traditional Norwegian spruce as a gesture of gratitude for Britain’s support during the Second World War.
This tradition will continue in 2022. The square will be decorated with vertical strings of lights and a tree that looms above the surrounding buildings on December 1.
It is not surprising that Norwegians affectionately refer to the brilliant tree as “the queen of the forest.”
Location
Trafalgar Square, Westminster, London WC2N 5DX, United Kingdom.
4. The Aqua Shard Christmas Tree
The Aqua Shard’s spectacular Christmas tree was unveiled for the first time in 2020, with hundreds of golden paintbrushes dipped in glitter and illuminated.
This golden tree honors the triumphant return of the London theatre after the epidemic, as well as the hardworking backstage artists who bring shows to life.
It was then meticulously restored in 2021 after the paint brushes were given a fresh look by being dipped in gold and green.
The renowned stage designer Soutra Gilmour has fashioned a tree out of green and gold-dipped paintbrushes.
Some of them are even signed by prominent theatre figures like Dame Judi Dench, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Joanna Lumley, and will be raffled off to benefit the Theatre Support Fund.
It is a very unusual Christmas tree in London, and we’re crossing our fingers for its return.
Location:
Level 31, The Shard, St Thomas Street, London SE1 9RY, United Kingdom.
5. Wembley Park Christmas Tree
A large illuminated Christmas tree in Wembley, London, signals the start of the Christmas lights switch-on in the capital.
The illuminated tree, titled The Hopeful Tree, has been installed as part of the free Winterfest light festival.
The 25-meter-tall exhibit employs one hundred thousand lights and is constructed so that people may walk through it and watch it from within as well as from a distance.
Location:
Wembley Park, Wembley, London HA9 0RJ, United Kingdom.
6. St Pancras International Christmas Tree
St Pancras International’s annual Christmas tree may be our favorite. It is located at King’s Cross.
St Pancras International has collaborated with the likes of Cirque du Soleil, Disney, Tiffany & Co., and many others on their magnificent show in previous years.
They collaborated with ZSL London Zoo to create a storybook installation inspired by the zoo’s “Tails from the Zoo” bedtime story, which was published during the pandemic.
Visitors enjoyed the full effect of the Zoo’s animals’ lights and noises as part of the exhibition, and even spotted additional creatures about the station – as if they had jumped out of a storybook!
We have no idea what Christmas tree they will display this year but we are waiting impatiently for them to install this year’s Christmas tree.
Location:
Euston Rd, King’s Cross, London N1C 4QP, United Kingdom.
